As per state regulations, Section 1501 of the Municipal Waste Planning, Recycling and Waste Reduction Act (Act 101), Richland Township has adopted an ordinance requiring all Commercial, Municipal and Institutional establishments in Richland Township to maintain a recycling program.
Commercial, municipal and institutional businesses are required to assure that all recyclable materials are appropriately collected and the amount accurately reflected in an annual report whether it is managed through your business or by a private contractor who will do the report for you. In order to be uniform in compilation of this data, reports should be in pounds or tonnage only. These report forms are mailed to you annually by Richland Township.
Below is a list of items that are REQUIRED to be recycled:
- Corrugated paper/cardboard
- Glass containers including bottles and jars (No Green Glass or Jars)
- Light weight office paper including bond and copy paper, onionskin and computer paper, and envelopes, etc.
- Aluminum, bimetal, tin cans and plastic bottles
As previously indicated, this is a mandatory, state regulated program in which all businesses are compelled to adhere to and file an annual report with Richland Township.
